Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We appreciate that parents/carers who are new to our school will have questions and concerns.

Here are some answers to questions in relation to your child’s education, school timings, procedures and a variety of other topics. We won't have answered everything so if you are unable to find the information you are looking for please contact the school by telephone or email:

Attendance and Timings

What are the school opening and closing times?

What do I do if my child is late for school?

If your child is late please bring them to the school office so that their attendance can be recorded.

What do I do if I am going to be late collecting my child?

Call the school office immediately to inform them if there are going to be any changes to who is picking the child up in this instance or your expected time of arrival at school.

Can I send someone else to pick up my child?

The school needs to be informed who you have nominated for this. If they are not on your child's contact list the school office may request some form of I.D.

How do I report my child's absence from school?

If your child will be absent, please call the school office before 9:30. If we do not receive a message from you that day, office staff will do a first-day telephone call to check on the child.

Can I take my child on holiday during term time?

Holidays in term time are not authorised and may result in a penalty notice by Bromley local council 

 

Health issues

What do I do if my child is prescribed medication?

If the child is on antibiotics and is required to take them 4 times a day, the parent must come in at midday to administer a dosage. Regularly prescribed medicines, such as, asthma pumps and eczema cream, or daily tablets, must be given to the school in the original box with the child’s name on and the parent must complete the ‘Prescribed Medication Form’.

What happens if my child has a medical/dental appointment?

The school office will need to be notified in advance of the date and time, and given a copy of the appointment letter.

How long before my child can return to school after an illness?

Any child suffering from sickness and diarrhoea will need to be clear of any symptoms for 48 hours before returning to school. Other illnesses, such as cold and flu, the child can return when they are well enough to do so.

What happens if my child has an accident at school?

If your child has an accident at school, a trained First Aider will administer the appropriate level of care. If the injury is more serious, the school will call the parent and explain the circumstances. Any head injury, a call will be made to the parents and their condition monitored throughout the day and call if any changes occur. In an emergency situation, an ambulance will be called.

What do I do if my child has head lice?

If your child has headlice you must treat the child with insecticidal lotions that are used when washing the hair and you can use a wet comb to brush the lice out.

 

Transport

Can I park at the school?

No, however, there is parking available in the surrounding roads of the school.

Can my child cycle to school?

Yes, they can cycle to school if they have passed their cycling proficiency and to ensure their safety please check that they wear a helmet. There is a bike shed on site.

Scooters can be ridden to school and can be left in the scooter pods on-site at the owner's risk.
